Health Check-up Timing
Gynecological examinations can be performed during menstruation.
Comprehensive health check-ups are also possible during menstruation. However, a urine test cannot be performed, and if menstrual bleeding is heavy, the cervical cytology (Pap smear) may be difficult to conduct. In such cases, urine and gynecological tests can be conducted later on the results consultation day. Those who have undergone a hysterectomy still require a gynecological examination. However, those who had a hysterectomy due to benign conditions are not subject to cervical (vaginal) cytology testing.

Is there any chance you might be pregnant?

Radiation exposure may be harmful to the fetus.
To avoid unnecessary radiation exposure during early pregnancy, a urine pregnancy test can be performed before the check-up upon request.

Tests requiring caution during early pregnancy:
Mammography / Dental X-ray / Chest X-ray / Bone densitometry / CT / MRI (MRI is generally considered safe during pregnancy, but contrast agents should be used with caution, especially in the first trimester.)

When was the first day of your last menstrual period?
This information is very important for the medical checkup as well possibility of pregnancy. SNUH Healthcare System will not hold responsibility for any trouble caused by uninformed conditions.

Cervical Cytology (Pap Smear)
This is a screening test for cervical cancer. A speculum is inserted into the vagina, and a small brush is used to collect cells from the cervix. Mild vaginal spotting may occur after the procedure.

Precautions for pap smear
Avoid using vaginal tablet for 3days before the test Avoid sexual inercourse and using cream for 24 hours before the test Clean private parts shortly and avoid vaginal irrigation

Antithrombotic Agents
If you have had a cardiovascular/cerebrovascular stent insertion within the past year or underwent heart valve replacement surgery, continue taking antiplatelet agents on the day of the check-up. Antithrombotic agents are often prescribed alongside medications for hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. If you are receiving treatment for these conditions, please consult your physician in advance to confirm whether you are on an antithrombotic agent.

Mild-Risk Antiplatelet Agents
Continue taking the medication for the check-up. (Except stop only on the morning of the exam.)
If skipped, keep the medication with you. You will be instructed when to resume it after the endoscopy. If the lesion found during endoscopy is considered at high risk of bleeding, tissue biopsy may be restricted. Moderate-Risk Antiplatelet Agents
Physician evaluation is required before stopping the medication.
Please consult your prescribing doctor regarding the risk of cardiovascular/cerebrovascular complications related to stopping the medication. Follow your physician’s recommendation on whether to continue or withhold the drug. If continued, tissue biopsy during endoscopy may be limited depending on the risk of bleeding. Anticoagulants
Physician assessment is required before discontinuation.
Please consult your physician regarding the risks of stopping anticoagulants before the check-up. Follow your doctor’s decision to continue or stop. If continued, biopsy may be restricted depending on the bleeding risk observed during endoscopy. (For Warfarin users, a coagulation test on the day of the check-up will determine biopsy eligibility.) Diabetes Medications
If you frequently experience hypoglycemia, please consult your doctor or contact the center. For those undergoing contrast-enhanced imaging, do not take Metformin-containing medications (e.g., Glucophage, Glupa, Diabex, Galvus, Janumet, etc.) for at least 48 hours after the scan.

Discontinue injections and medications from the start of fasting for the health check-up.

Antihypertensive and Anticonvulsant Medications
Take your medications early in the morning with a sip of water on the day of your check-ups.
If you forget, be sure bring them with you. Stable blood pressure helps ensure a smooth examination.

Dietary Restrictions
Fasting is required: no food, drinks (including water), alcohol, gum, smoking, or medications.
Fasting for at least 12 hours is required. No water for at least 8 hours prior to the exam. For colonoscopy: refer to the “Colonoscopy Dietary Guidelines.” If you are taking appetite suppressants or have undergone gastrectomy, it is recommended to consume only liquid meals for breakfast and lunch the day before, then begin fasting.

Antihypertensive & Anticonvulsant Medications

Precautions during MRI
Removal of all metallic or magnetic items Be sure to remove all metallic or magnetic items before the test.
Ear plugs Earplugs are provided due to noise and vibration.
Remaining still The body part being examined must remain completely still. (Even slight movement can distort positioning, making normal findings appear abnormal.) When MRI is performed under sedation, involuntary movements or snoring may cause image distortion, making it difficult to obtain accurate results.

Coronary 3D CT/ Calcium Scoring CT
A contrast-enhanced Computed Tomography study that assesses atherosclerosis and stenosis of the coronary arteries.

What Are the Coronary Arteries?
Coronary arteries are major arteries that supply nutrition and oxygen to the heart. If the vessels become narrowed or blocked, it can cause ischemic heart disease such as angina and myocardial infarction.

Method & Precautions
	Heart-rate control Since the heart is constantly beating, a beta-blocker, the pill to stabilize heart rate may be given before scan to help achieve better image quality. After allowing enough time for the medication to take effect, the scan will begin. If the rate cannot be controlled ≤ 75 beats/min or if arrhythmia is present, the test may not be performed due to difficulty detecting coronary artery stenosis. In addition, small artery branches < 1.5 mm in diameter may be too small to detect on the scan. During contrast injection, you may experience a sudden flushing sensation, a medicinal taste, or dizziness - Do not be alarmed and remain still for accurate imaging.

	Asthma Those with asthma may have a higher risk when taking beta blockers to stabilize heart rate.
	Arrhythmia/Irregular heart rate Those with uncontrolled heart rate or irregular heart rate due to arrhythmia

	Coronary stent Those who wants evaluation of stenosis insde the stent inserted with coronary stenosis (For assessment of other vessels narrowing, consult a cardiologist first)

A contrast agent used in CT scans is an iodine-based intravenous drug that enhances differences in X-ray absorption between tissues, improving the distinction between normal and abnormal areas.

Restriction on Diabetes Medication
If you are taking diabetes medications containing metformin (e.g., Glucophage, Glupa, Diabex, Galvus, Janumet), you must stop it for at least 48 hours after the test to prevent strain on the kidneys.

Contrast Administration Method
The contrast is injected through a thick IV line placed before the scan. You may feel sudden warmth in the face, chest, or abdomen, a metallic taste, or heat at the injection site. These are normal signs the contrast is working properly and are not a cause for concern.

Possible Side Effects
Headache, Hives, Itching, Cough, Runny nose, Skin rash, Shortness of breath Side effects may occur after the use of contrast agents. Most side effects are mild and resolve on their own. If symptoms persist or worsen, a medication can be given to aid recovery.

Fasting Requirement
At least 6 hours of fasting is required before undergoing a contrast-enhanced CT scan. Inadequate fasting may increase the risk of severe side effects if a reaction to the contrast agent occurs. Additionally, the presence of food in the stomach or duodenum can make it more difficult to detect abdominal abnormalities.

At our center, we minimize radiation exposure by adjusting CT scan techniques and using the advanced dose-reduction software. We also monitor each patient's cumulative exposure electronically for strict radiation management.

Take the central elevator to the 38th floor for check-in.

Changing Clothes

Change into examination clothing. Please remove your top underwears. Then proceed to submit an urine sample.

The full program takes approximately 3 to 7 hours, depending on your program.

After changing back to regular clothes, make sure you haven't left behind any valuables or personal items.

Preparation for Health Check-up

Please bring your usual glasses or contact lenses for corrected vision testing.

Do Not Drive
If you are scheduled for sedated endoscopy or pupil dilation (eye exam), driving after the check-up is strongly discouraged.

Medication
If you take antiplatelet or anticoagulant medication and a biopsy or procedure is scheduled, consult your prescribing physician regarding the risk of temporarily stopping the medication.

If you have difficulty changing clothes or using the restroom alone, please come with a same-gender guardian for a more comfortable experience.

In-person Consultation
	Visit the center and meet directly with your physician for a detailed explanation of your check-up results. You will review medical images, charts, and receive the printed report if requested.

	Discuss your results with your physician over the phone. After the call, the report can be sent via: EMS (7-14 days delivery), Email, Or viewed on the website.

Online Results
	Once your physician reviews and finalizes your results, you may access the full report including expert opinion via our website. If you wish to schedule a follow-up consultation, call +82-2-2112-5503(Eng.)/ 5601(Kor.). The full results will be available after your scheduled consultation date. Key blood test results are available on the evening of the check-up day (from 8:00 PM KST).

Dietary Guidelines

7 Days Before the Check-up
If you have frequent constipation, start limiting fiber intake 1 week before the check-up.Eat lighter meals than usual and drink more than 2 liters of water per day to promote bowel movements.

3 Days Before the Check-up
Begin following dietary restrictions as shown below. If you are taking antiplatelet or anticoagulant medication, please refer to the “Medication Guidelines.”

Breakfast & Lunch - 'White rice porridge with soy sauce, White rice with clear broth, Castella (plain sponge cake) After 2:00 PM - 'Do not eat anything except water.

Kimchi, vegetables, wild greens, mushrooms, multigrains (Fiber can adhere to the intestinal wall.)

Grapes, watermelon, melon, kiwi, oranges (Seeds may remain in the bowel even after diarrhea.)

Kelp, seaweed, nuts, tough meat (Seaweed may stick to the intestine even after cleansing.)

If dietary preparation is not followed properly, stool or seeds may remain in the colon even after taking all the laxatives, making colonoscopy on the day of the exam impossible or inaccurate.
